Mammoth Cream White Florist Cyclamen (Cyclamen persicum 'Mammoth Cream White') is a large, sturdy flowering tuber that grows about 60cm tall and wide, roughly twice the size of a wild cyclamen in flower. Big, silky blooms in a warm pure white rise on strong stems above silver patterned heart shaped leaves. It flowers through the cooler months and suits a generous pot.
Why you'll love it
-
Warm pure white. The petals are a clean white with a warm cast, and they glow in a shaded corner.
-
Big, sturdy plants. At about 60cm tall and wide, roughly twice a wild cyclamen, one plant can fill a pot on its own.
-
Large silky blooms. The flowers are bigger than on standard florist cyclamen, clustered toward the centre on strong stems.
-
Patterned leaves. Silver marked, heart shaped dark green leaves add interest before and after the flowers.
-
Happy in shade. Bright dappled light or part shade is all it needs, where other flowers sulk.
Where it works best
A bright spot indoors. Put it in a room with plenty of light but no hot direct sun, such as an east facing window or a bright entry, and keep it clear of heaters.
Planters by the door. Plant one to a 30cm pot, or group several, in a covered entry or balcony where rain and wind cannot batter the flowers.
Garden bed edges. For a winter flower bed in mild areas, plant 60cm apart in bright shade at the front of the border, where the leaves and flowers stay in view.
Growing Mammoth Cream White Florist Cyclamen in Australia
Position and climate. It wants bright shade or dappled sun, shelter from wind and nights above about 5C. Warm gardens can keep it on a covered verandah in winter; in cool or frosty regions it belongs indoors. It is a cool season plant, so shelter it from hot afternoon sun.
Soil. Free drainage is the one requirement. Set the tuber so its top sits above the surface, as in the tube, because burying it invites rot. In beds, use loose soil enriched with compost.
Water and feed. Moisture should be steady and light: never let it dry out in flower, and never leave it standing in water. Feed fortnightly during flowering with a liquid fertiliser for flowering plants.
Pruning. Pull faded flowers and yellowing leaves cleanly from the tuber. Cyclamen go dormant for part of the year, usually summer: reduce watering as the leaves die back, and water again when growth returns.
What to expect when it arrives
Our Mammoth Cream White Florist Cyclamen is tube stock: a young plant in an 80mm deep tube that establishes quickly. Plants travel upright. Expect leaf growth first and flowers once the weather cools, with the full 60cm display arriving after a season of growth.
Plants are delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95. Every plant is covered by our 30 day healthy plant guarantee.

Common questions
Is it safe for pets and children?
No. The tuber is poisonous if eaten. Stand pots well out of reach of dogs, cats and small children, and avoid planting where pets dig.
How big does it get?
About 60cm tall and wide in full flower, roughly twice the size of a wild cyclamen. Give it a pot at least 30cm wide, or about 60cm of space in a border.
Why are the leaves turning yellow?
In summer it is usually dormancy, which is normal: reduce watering and let the tuber rest, then restart in autumn. Yellowing mid season usually means overwatering or too much warmth.
