Fire Pits

A fire pit gives a garden a reason to be used after dark and through the cooler months. This range covers steel fire rings, square, hexagonal and octagonal pits, tall braziers and flat pack portable pits, along with a poker and a firewood storage ring. Most are cut from 3mm steel plate with a rust patina. The decision that matters is how many people will sit around the fire and what it will stand on.

Rings, pits, braziers and portables

  • Fire rings. 750mm in diameter, about 400mm tall and 25kg, in forest, roos and birds designs. A ring sits on a bed of gravel or rocks and holds the fire within its steel wall.
  • Fire pits. The octagonal pit is 1150mm across and about 350mm tall, low enough to see over and wide enough for a circle of chairs. The 800mm pits stand about 500mm tall and weigh 35kg, in butterfly, dragon and triangle designs. The hexagonal gum leaves pit, 850mm wide, is supplied in raw steel to rust naturally or be sealed.
  • Braziers. 350mm in diameter and about 750mm tall, an upright fire for a courtyard or a small paved area, in dragon, forest and roos designs.
  • Portable flat pack pits. 500mm square and 400mm high. The panels slot together and pack flat for camping or storage.
  • Accessories. An 800mm poker with a hook for shifting logs, and a 760mm ring that keeps split firewood stacked and neat.

Siting a fire pit in a planted garden

Give the fire a level floor of gravel or paving, set back from planting and clear of overhanging branches. Keep it away from hedges, dry grasses and bark mulch, and leave room for seats to sit back from the heat. Gravel or darker stone is the better floor, because the rust patina keeps weathering outdoors and can mark pale paving when wet. Check your council rules and any local fire restrictions before lighting. For seating, the steel benches and stools in the outdoor furniture range have a matching rust patina.

Common questions

What should a fire pit stand on?

A fire ring sits directly on gravel, rocks, sand or soil. Pits and braziers suit gravel or paving, though rust can mark pale surfaces when wet.

Which fire pit suits a small courtyard?

A brazier. At 350mm across it takes far less room than a fire pit. A flat pack pit is the other option, because it can be taken apart and stored between uses.

Can I take a fire pit camping?

The flat pack pits are made for it. They weigh 20kg, slot together on site and come apart to lie flat in the back of a car.

Are the fire pits made to order?

Several of the larger pits are, and the product page says so where that applies. Delivered Australia wide.
