Outdoor Garden Furniture

A seat is what turns a garden from something you look at into somewhere you stay. This range covers steel park seats, backless benches, stools, cafe tables, larger garden tables and a chair, cut with patterns of trees, branches, gum leaves, grapevines and sunflowers. All carry a rust patina. The first decision is how long you plan to sit: a seat with a back for an afternoon, or a low bench or stool for a few minutes between jobs.

More information

Seats, benches and stools

  • Park seats. 1500mm wide, 940mm high and 650mm deep with a full backrest, seating two or three adults. Designs include autumn leaf, branches, grape vine, spring tree and winter trees.
  • Lattice seats and the timber bench. The willow tree and entwined trees seats, and the scribble bench with its Merbau timber seat, are 1500mm long and 1100mm high.
  • Backless benches. 1500mm long and 450mm high in 3mm steel, weighing 25kg. The branch and tree benches are 400mm deep, slim enough for a path edge or a narrow verandah. A 1000mm two seater weighs 16kg.
  • Stools. 450mm high and 400mm square, 15kg, and useful as a seat, a side table or a stand for a pot.

Cafe tables and garden tables

The cafe tables are 700mm across, about 740mm high and 18kg, a size for coffee for two. Five are round, in dragonfly, gum leaves, gum nut, grapevine and Celtic sun designs, and the branch table is square. For a shared meal, the two garden tables are 1100mm and 1200mm in diameter.

Sealed, coated or left to weather

The finish differs by piece, so check before you place it. The backless benches and stools have a rust patina that has been sealed. The lattice seats and the timber bench are coated with Penetrol, which should be reapplied from time to time. The other park seats, the tables and the chair have an open rust patina that keeps weathering outdoors and can mark pale paving or decking when wet, so gravel, brick or darker stone makes the better floor.

Where to put a garden seat

Put a seat where there is already a reason to stop: under a shade tree, at the end of a path, facing a pond or against a hedge. The grapevine pieces suit a pergola planted with climbers, and a stool earns its place beside a vegetable bed.

Common questions

Will steel furniture mark my deck or paving?

Rusted steel can when it is wet. Gravel, brick or darker stone makes the better floor, and on a pale deck it is worth checking under the feet after rain.

Can I move the furniture around?

Yes. Nothing is fixed in place. The stools weigh 15kg, the cafe tables 18kg and the backless benches 25kg, so a seat can follow the shade through the year.

Does steel furniture need maintenance?

Very little. Leave the rust patina alone, and recoat the Penetrol finished seats periodically. Delivered Australia wide.
