Leopardo Dark Salmon Pink Florist Cyclamen (Cyclamen persicum 'Leopardo Dark Salmon Pink') is a compact cyclamen that carries upright coral-red flowers above silver-marked leaves through the cooler months. It forms a rounded clump about 40cm tall and wide. The Leopardo series is bred for extra heat and stress resilience.
Why you'll love it
-
Colour in the cool months. Upright stems of long, satin-petalled flowers in deep coral red-pink bring colour through the cooler months.
-
Handsome leaves. Heart-shaped dark green leaves are marked with silver and flushed pink underneath, so the plant looks good between flowers.
-
Bred for heat. The Leopardo series is bred for greater heat and stress resilience, which helps in Australian conditions.
-
Large, orchid-like flowers. Strong stems carry big blooms that cluster in the centre of the plant for an impressive display.
-
Versatile. It suits indoor decor, patio pots and the front of a shaded border.
Where it works best
Patio pots and indoor colour. A pot in bright, dappled light on a verandah or beside a bright window gives the best show. Choose a pot with good drainage.
Front of a shaded border. Plant 30cm apart at the front of a border in a sheltered, part-shaded spot, where the silver-marked leaves and bright flowers stand out.
Balconies and courtyards. Compact and happy in a sheltered spot, it dresses up a courtyard or balcony through the cooler months.
Growing Leopardo Dark Salmon Pink Florist Cyclamen in Australia
Position and climate. Bright dappled light or part shade, in a sheltered spot. Cyclamen come from rocky hillsides and shady woods around Greece, Turkey, the Middle East and northern Africa, so they like cool, bright conditions. Protect them from frost and grow them in temperatures over 5C, which means a sheltered garden spot in mild climates and a bright position indoors elsewhere.
Soil. Plant so the top of the tuber sits above the soil surface, as it does in the tube. Use a free-draining potting mix.
Water and feed. Water regularly but lightly, and feed fortnightly during the flowering season. Avoid wetting the crown, where the tuber meets the leaves.
Pruning. No pruning is needed. Pull off spent flower stems and yellowed leaves at the base. Cyclamen grow from tubers and usually go dormant for part of the year, often summer, when they are not flowering. Once the leaves yellow or flowering finishes, reduce watering so the plant can dry off and rest.
What to expect when it arrives
We sell Leopardo Dark Salmon Pink Florist Cyclamen as tube stock, a young plant in an 80mm deep tube that establishes quickly. Expect a small plant on arrival, with the top of the tuber showing at the surface. Pot it up straight away, keeping the tuber top above the soil, and give it bright, dappled light. Flowers follow in the cooler months. Plants travel upright in their tubes and settle quickly once watered in.
Plants are delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95. Every plant is covered by our 30 day healthy plant guarantee.
