Mango Allusion Arrowhead Plant (Syngonium podophyllum 'Mango Allusion') is a low maintenance trailing houseplant, 35cm high and up to 60cm wide, with arrow shaped leaves of pale green flushed all over with peach pink. The colour is deepest in the centre of each leaf, along the veins and on older plants. It is an easy way to bring a soft, warm tone into a shady room.
Why you'll love it
-
Peach pink foliage. Pale green leaves carry a flush of peach pink right across, stronger down the central veins and on mature leaves.
-
Colour that deepens. The tone builds as the plant ages, so a young plant keeps improving.
-
Low maintenance. It needs bright indirect light, steady moisture and little else, which suits busy households.
-
Trailing habit. At 35cm high and 60cm wide, the stems hang gracefully from baskets, wall pots and shelves.
-
Blends with other foliage. The soft peach tone sits well beside other coloured and variegated leaves.
Where it works best
Hanging baskets and wall pots. Let the stems trail from a hanging basket or a wall mounted pot, where the peach colour shows from below.
Terrariums and shaded displays. While young it is small enough for a closed or open terrarium, and a humid sheltered spot brings out the best leaf colour.
Shaded tropical gardens. In frost free gardens plant 50cm apart under taller plants for a trailing, peach tinted cover.
Growing Mango Allusion Arrowhead Plant in Australia
Position and climate. Humid shade with indirect light suits it. Bright indirect light gives the strongest peach tone, and direct sun scorches the leaves. It is frost tender, so outdoors it suits tropical and subtropical gardens only, and elsewhere it belongs indoors or on a protected patio.
Soil. A good quality potting mix, or free draining garden soil in a sheltered tropical bed. Choose a pot with drainage holes.
Water and feed. Water regularly for the first 12 weeks and after that only when the soil seems dry. Feed using a liquid fertiliser at half rate every few weeks while it establishes, then occasionally. Indoors, a regular spritz on the foliage keeps it humid and healthy.
Pruning. Remove old leaves for a quick tidy up and trim long stems to keep the plant in shape. Syngonium is mildly toxic if chewed and the sap can irritate skin, so wash your hands after handling it and keep it away from pets and small children.
What to expect when it arrives
We sell Mango Allusion as tube stock, a young plant in an 80mm deep tube that establishes quickly. It arrives small and pale, with the peach colouring deepening as the plant grows. Pot it into a quality potting mix and keep it in bright, indirect light.
Tube stock comes from our grower, who does not always have it. When there is none, the tube shows as sold out on this page, and the notify button emails you the day it is back.
Plants are delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95. Every plant is covered by our 30 day healthy plant guarantee.

Common questions
Is Mango Allusion hard to look after?
No. Give it bright, indirect light, water when the soil seems dry and a spritz now and then. It is a low maintenance trailing houseplant.
Why is my plant mostly green?
Young plants show less peach than mature ones. The colour is strongest in the centre of the leaf and builds with age, so give it time and bright, indirect light.
Can I keep it with pets?
Keep it out of reach. Syngonium is mildly toxic if chewed and the sap can irritate skin, so wash your hands after handling it and keep it away from pets and small children.
