StoneLite Tall Cylinder

The StoneLite Tall Cylinder is a straight sided column planter cast from glass-reinforced concrete, made in five sizes from 54cm to a full metre high and eleven finishes. Its footprint stays narrow while the plant sits high, which is what a tight entry or a paved courtyard usually needs.

Why you'll love it

• Height without bulk. The 56 x 100cm stands a metre tall on a 56cm base, lifting a plant to eye level without eating the paving.
• A third of the weight of solid concrete. The tallest is 29kg empty and the 30 x 54cm is 7kg, so repositioning is a one person job.
• Reinforced against knocks. Glass fibre through the wall takes impact that cracks an ordinary cast pot.
• Eleven finishes. Raw Concrete as standard, plus ten sprayed colours, with custom colours to order for an extra $60.

Sizes and what fits in them

Five sizes, quoted as outside width by height.

• 30 x 54cm, 38L, 7kg. A slim upright such as a sansevieria.
• 36 x 65cm, 66L, 11kg. A dwarf shrub, or a trailing plant to spill over the rim.
• 42 x 75cm, 100L, 16kg. A single palm or clipped standard flanking a doorway.
• 48 x 86cm, 155L, 22kg. A screening shrub with enough root volume to hold condition.
• 56 x 100cm, 245L, 29kg. A slender feature tree, or a run of three along a wall.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Glass-reinforced concrete: a real concrete skin over a glass fibre matrix. Same look and surface as cast concrete, roughly a third of the mass.

Outdoors. The sprayed colours are Dulux Weathershield and carry a 15 year guarantee against blistering, peeling and flaking. We hold no frost rating for the range, so in hard frosting districts keep it draining freely rather than assume it will cope with ice inside.

Drainage. Keep the drainage holes clear and raise the pot on feet so water can leave. Cover each hole with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, because both clog. Add 50mm of 10mm gravel, then a premium potting mix, never garden soil. Use a saucer indoors.

What to expect when it arrives

Pots ship empty and unplanted, so budget for mix as well as plant: the 42 x 75cm alone takes 100L. Raw Concrete is dispatched in 2 to 5 business days; sprayed colours are made to order, so allow 2 to 3 weeks. Delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95.
