The Marine LA Egg Pot is a lightweight composite planter in a soft egg profile, finished in a deep marine blue with a fine texture across the surface. It comes in two sizes, 300mm and 450mm across, rated for indoor and outdoor use. Colour is the reason to pick it: against grey render or a green hedge it does work a neutral pot cannot.

Why you'll love it

  • Colour with a job to do. Deep marine blue reads as a deliberate choice beside silver foliage and grey stone, and it stops a planting from going flat.
  • Curves rather than corners. The egg profile softens hard lines around pool surrounds, entryways and square courtyards.
  • Easy to move. Composite construction keeps the weight down, so even the 450mm can be shifted without machinery.
  • Drainage built in. A moulded drainage hole comes as standard, so the mix drains rather than sours.

Sizes and what fits in them

Both sizes share the same egg profile, so they group well at different heights.

  • 300mm. 30cm across and 29cm tall, holding roughly 18 to 22 litres of mix. Decorative foliage, compact shrubs, or a clipped ball at an entry.
  • 450mm. 45cm across and 41cm tall, holding roughly 55 to 65 litres. Feature plants, lush foliage and small shrubs.

The same shape is made in other colours, sold separately, if you would rather mix than match.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Lightweight composite with a textured marine finish. It is weather resistant and built for everyday use, and it cleans up with a damp cloth or a rinse under the hose.

Outdoors. Rated for outdoor as well as indoor use, so gardens, patios, courtyards and commercial fitouts all suit it. We hold no frost rating for it, so in cold inland districts give it a sheltered position.

Drainage. One built in drainage hole, and it is worth keeping clear after heavy rain or a long watering, because a blocked hole in an egg shaped pot leaves water sitting in the widest part of the base. No saucer is supplied, so add one before it goes onto an indoor floor.

What to expect when it arrives

The pot ships empty and boxed, without plants, potting mix or a saucer. Stand it on a level surface before you fill it, because the 450mm holds up to about 65 litres of mix and will not be nudged into place afterwards. Pots are delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95.
