The Forest Green Cosette Egg is a single size feature planter in glazed terracotta, 55cm across and 50cm high, holding roughly 95 to 110 litres of mix. The glossy forest green reads as a considered colour choice rather than a novelty, and it holds its own against foliage. It has a drainage hole and is rated for indoor and outdoor use.

Why you'll love it

  • Colour with depth. The glossy green glaze shifts with the light through the day, which is what separates a good glazed pot from a painted one.
  • Serious soil volume. At 95 to 110 litres there is room for real root development, so a plant can live in it for years.
  • Glazed terracotta. The glaze seals the clay, leaving a weather resistant surface that rinses clean.
  • Drainage as standard. A built in drainage hole lets excess water out, which matters more the bigger the pot gets.

Sizes and what fits in them

This pot is sold in one size, and it is a genuine feature piece.

  • 550mm. Listed at 55cm across and 50cm high, holding roughly 95 to 110 litres of potting mix.
  • What suits it. Single specimen planting is where it shines: a small tree, a clipped topiary ball, a large statement foliage plant or a structural shrub. It is too large to be worth filling with a mixed display.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Glazed terracotta with a textured body beneath the glossy green glaze. With more than 95 litres of wet mix in it, moving it afterwards is not realistic, so choose the spot first and set it on a level surface.

Outdoors. Rated for outdoor use, with a weather resistant glazed finish, and equally at home indoors in an entry or a large living area. In hard frosting districts, treat it as you would any glazed clay and give it shelter over winter.

Drainage. A drainage hole is included and needs to stay clear so water does not build up in the base. No saucer is supplied, so add one if the pot is going on an indoor floor.

What to expect when it arrives

The 550mm pot ships empty and packed on its own, with no plant, potting mix or saucer included. Have close to 100 litres of mix ready, and plan on two people to lift it into place before you start filling. Delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95.
