Seaweed and Plant Tonics

Tonics are not fertilisers, and they do not replace one. Their job is to support root growth, condition the soil and help plants make use of the feed you already apply. This small Plant Doctor range pairs a kelp-based liquid seaweed with a fulvic acid bio-stimulant, and the choice between them comes down to what you want to support: the plant and its soil directly, or the performance of everything else you put on.

Seaweed Secrets or Stimulizer

Seaweed Secrets is a concentrated liquid seaweed made from Ascophyllum nodosum kelp, with humic and fulvic acids added. The kelp is naturally rich in more than 70 minerals, along with amino acids and plant growth hormones. It works as both a plant tonic and a soil conditioner, improving soil structure and moisture retention, and it is used on lawns and gardens from a plant's early stages through to full bloom. This is the one to water in with new plantings.

Stimulizer is a super concentrated, fulvic acid-based bio-stimulant and natural chelating agent, with more than 75 minerals, humic acid extracts and natural plant stimulants. It is used to stimulate root growth and improve nutrient uptake in gardens, crops and hydroponic systems. As a chelator, it helps the fertilisers and tonics applied alongside it work harder. Sizes run from a 30ml bottle to 10 litres.

Common questions

Is seaweed a fertiliser?

No. Treat it as a tonic and soil conditioner, and keep feeding separately with a liquid fertiliser or granules. The two belong in the same program.

When should I use seaweed on new plants?

At planting and through the settling-in period, when the job is root growth, not top growth. Water it in around the root ball of new trees, hedging and turf, and repeat through hot, dry or frosty spells.

Can I use both together?

Yes. Plant Doctor puts the two in the same pack in several of its kits and bundles, including Gardener's Choice. Delivered Australia wide.
