The Premium Glaze Parlour Pot is a rounded double-fired ceramic pot in one size, 38cm across and 35cm tall, weighing 15kg empty. It comes in ten hand-applied glaze colourways from ocean blues to gunmetal, each double fired for depth and frost resistance. It is the most liftable pot in the Premium Glaze range, which is why people buy it in pairs.

Sizes and what fits in them

  • 38 x 35cm, 15kg. Room for a single plant from a 200mm nursery pot, with a season or two of growing space before it needs stepping up.
  • Good for compact evergreens. A clipped ball, a dwarf gardenia or a small topiary holds its shape at this volume.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Double-fired ceramic under a hand-applied glaze. The 38 x 35cm measurement is an outside dimension, so the soil volume is a little less than the shape suggests.

Outdoors. The double firing gives the glaze its frost resistance, and the colour is developed to last outside rather than fade off. Every pot varies slightly in tone and glaze pooling.

Drainage. It drains from the base. Keep the holes clear and sit the pot on feet outdoors so water runs away freely, and use a saucer if it goes inside. Cover each hole with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, because both clog. Add 50mm of 10mm gravel, then a quality premium potting mix, never garden soil.
