Solar Garden Spotlights and Uplighters
A spotlight is the one garden light that is about the plants. Aimed up a trunk or across a hedge, it shows off a feature tree, a specimen in a pot or a textured wall after dark. This range covers single solar spots, multi light kits, a wall washer and recessed in-ground uplighters, all solar powered with no wiring and no electrician. The main decision is where the panel sits: with the light, or apart from it.

More information
Built-in panel or remote panel kit
The single spots carry their own adjustable panel, so you aim the light at the plant and tilt the panel to the sun. They suit open beds, pots and lawn specimens. The catch is the usual place for an uplight: at the base of a tree, in the shade of the canopy you want to light. That is what the kits are for. Three or four spots run from one remote panel, each on its own lead of 4 to 5 metres, so the lights sit under the canopy and the panel stands in the open.
How much light for the plant
- 60 to 100 lumens. Low planting, pots, garden ornaments and a gentle glow through a bed.
- 200 to 250 lumens. A single feature plant or specimen tree. The King throws a focused beam, and the High-Output spot has low and high settings from 80 to 200 lumens.
- 500 lumens per light. The high output kit, with a narrow 30 degree beam for trees and shrubs up to 4m tall.
Warm white suits green foliage and bark, and cool white is crisper. Two of the single spots also come in a colour changing version.
Walls, hedges and paving
The solar wall washer is a bar of warm white LEDs in 517mm and 1022mm lengths that mounts vertically or horizontally. It lays an even wash across a wall, a screen or the face of a hedge, where a round spot would leave a bright circle. The in-ground uplighter recesses flush into paving, decking or a garden bed, takes a walk-over pressure of up to 100kg and comes in three sizes from 180 to 720 lumens. Both have the panel built in, so both need an open, sunny position.
Common questions
Where should I put a spotlight to light a tree?
Set it close to the trunk and aim up through the branches to show bark and structure, or move it 1 to 2 metres out to light the canopy from the front.
Will the light work under a dense canopy?
The light will, the panel will not. Use a remote panel kit and run the panel to a spot with direct sun for most of the day, facing north where you can.
Can I light plants in pots?
Yes. A spike mounted spot pushes into the mix of a large planter, or surface mounts beside it on a deck. See pots and planters if the pot is still to come. Delivered Australia wide.
