Thai Limestone Fluted Torquelstone Pot

The Thai Limestone Fluted Torquelstone Pot is a hand made outdoor vessel from Thailand, finished in a softly aged limestone glaze and carved with vertical fluting that catches low sun. It is made in one size, 85cm by 85cm and 70cm high.

Why you'll love it

• Fluting that does real work. The vertical ribs throw a shadow line down the body, so the pot keeps its depth in flat afternoon light.
• A broad, low footprint. At 85cm square and 70cm high it reads as wide rather than tall, which suits a courtyard corner or a pair at an entry.
• Aged from day one. The mineral limestone finish is matt, not glossy, so it settles into an established garden immediately, and no two pieces carry the same surface.

Sizes and what fits in them

The Fluted Torquelstone comes in a single size, quoted as outside dimensions.

• 85cm by 85cm. Wide enough for a multi stemmed feature such as a dwarf olive or a mature strappy leaf clump, where the plant matches the spread of the pot.
• 70cm high. Real depth for a shrub or a small standard tree, so you are not limited to shallow rooted colour.
• No published volume or weight. Fill it in stages with bagged mix and treat it as a heavy lift.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Limestone glazed ceramic, hand made and hand finished. Tonal variation across the fluting and an untrue rim come with the process rather than being defects.

Outdoors. Sold as an outdoor pot. We publish no frost rating for the Thai limestone range, so in cold inland and tableland gardens treat it as you would any glazed ceramic and never let water sit in the base over winter.

Drainage. Keep the drainage holes clear and stand the pot on feet so water escapes. Cover them with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, which clog. Lay 50mm of 10mm gravel, then a premium potting mix rather than garden soil, and stick to plants suited to containers: aggressive roots damage any planter.

What to expect when it arrives

Pots ship empty and packed for freight, with dispatch in 2 to 5 business days. An 85cm limestone vessel is not a one person job, so have help and a trolley, and site it before filling.

Delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95. Advanced and large stock is freighted at cost.
