Potting it right

  • Keep drainage holes clear and raise the pot on feet so water can escape freely.
  • Cover holes with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen (never fabric or geofabric - they clog).
  • Add a 50 mm layer of 10 mm gravel, then fill with a quality premium potting mix - never garden soil.
  • Choose plants suited to pots; aggressive root systems can damage any planter.
