Richgro Ant Killa is a granular insecticide for ants in lawns and around buildings, with bifenthrin as the active constituent. The granules are applied straight from the pack with no mixing, and one 1kg pack treats up to 160 square metres. It is a perimeter product: the idea is to treat where ants are nesting and travelling, before they find a way indoors.
Read the label before you open the pack and follow its directions. The registered rates, the situations this product may be used in and the safety directions are all set out there, and they govern correct use. Nothing on this page replaces them.
In practice the granules are spread evenly over the affected area straight from the pack, concentrating on nests, established trails and the perimeter strip around the building. Water in lightly if the label directs it, and reapply as required for ongoing control. Treat the full run of the perimeter rather than one doorway, because ants track along to the next entry point and a broken line is not a barrier.
Turf areas. Lawns carrying ant activity, where nests and mounds keep reappearing through the grass.
House and shed surrounds. External walls, paths and paved edges are where a barrier treatment does its real work.
Outdoor perimeters generally. Fence lines, driveways and the strip between garden bed and building form part of the same treated line.
