Grey Terrazzo Trough

The Terrazzo Trough is a fibrecement planter in a grey terrazzo look finish, part of the Precinct Lite range and sold in a 600mm and an 800mm length. A trough is the shape for a line of planting rather than a single specimen: herbs along a balcony rail, grasses down the edge of a patio, or a low screen between two seating areas.

Why you'll love it

• Depth most troughs do not have. 30cm and 36cm high, holding 30 to 35 litres and 55 to 65 litres, which is a real root run rather than a window box.
• Lighter than concrete. Fibrecement keeps the concrete look and weighs far less, so it can go on a balcony or a terrace where solid concrete cannot.
• Soft grey with subtle speckling. The terrazzo finish adds texture without pattern, and it does not fight with the planting in front of it.
• Drainage hole built in. Stops water sitting in the base, and no liner or insert is required.

Sizes and what fits in them

Sizes are the length. Volumes are approximate mix capacity.

• 600mm. 60cm long, 24cm wide and 30cm high, about 30 to 35 litres. Herbs, flowering plants and compact shrubs, and the size that fits most balconies.
• 800mm. 80cm long, 31cm wide and 36cm high, about 55 to 65 litres. Grasses, mixed plantings and a low screen, with enough depth to keep shrubs growing properly.

The larger size gives more planting flexibility, so choose it if the space allows.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Fibrecement with a textured grey terrazzo look finish. Wipe it clean with a damp cloth or rinse it with water.

Outdoors. Made for indoor and outdoor use, from balconies and patios to offices and hospitality spaces. No frost or UV rating is published for the range, so we do not claim one. Sealing before planting is recommended and extends the life of the planter.

Drainage. A drainage hole is included in both sizes. No saucer is supplied, so indoors add a tray. Set the trough on a stable, level base before planting, because a long planter sitting out of level will drain unevenly along its length.

What to expect when it arrives

Troughs ship empty and unplanted, boxed for transport, with no plant, mix or saucer included. Seal it, position it, then fill it: the 800mm holds 55 to 65 litres of wet mix and will not slide across a deck once planted. Delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95.
