Can I get a colour that is not listed?

Yes. StoneLite, GRC and Terrazzo pots can be custom sprayed in almost any Dulux or Colorbond colour for an extra $60. Contact us before ordering.

The Charcoal Balcony Planter is a shallow outdoor trough built for the one place most pots do not work: a narrow balcony or verandah. It is sold in a single size, 49.5cm wide, 25cm deep and 19cm high, with a water smart design and a flat charcoal finish. It is light, it goes together quickly, and it puts a working herb garden where a round pot would block the walkway.

Sizes and what fits in them

One size only, listed as 500mm in the size selector, and the 19cm height decides the planting.

  • 49.5cm wide, 25cm deep, 19cm high. A full row of herbs, four or five leafy greens, or a mixed run of compact flowering plants for seasonal colour.
  • Shallow rooted plants only. There is not enough soil column for a shrub or a small tree. Basil, parsley, chives, lettuce, strawberries and low bedding colour are the right planting.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. A light, hard-wearing planter in a charcoal finish. The supplier specification does not name the material beyond that, so we do not claim one.

Outdoors. Specified for outdoor use only, and not listed for indoors. Keep it on the balcony or verandah rather than bringing it in over winter.

Drainage. The water smart design manages moisture in the planter rather than letting it run straight through, which is what you want above someone else's balcony. Open drainage holes are not listed on the specification, so check the base when it arrives and watch moisture in hot weather rather than watering to a schedule.

What to expect when it arrives

The planter ships empty, with no plants and no potting mix, so order those alongside it. Setup is quick and needs no permanent fixing, and at 49.5cm wide it carries through a standard doorway in one piece. Delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95.
