This Black Fibre Stone Round Planter is the 450mm x 380mm size, a deep black round pot moulded in fibre stone that takes about 55 to 65 litres of potting mix. It is the size to reach for when a pot has to hold a real plant rather than an accent, and it is light enough for one person to position while it is empty.

Why you'll love it

  • Feature size without feature weight. Fibre stone carries the mass and colour of stone at a fraction of the weight of concrete, so a pot this big stays movable.
  • Plug controlled drainage. The drainage holes come with a removable plastic plug, so the same planter can be closed up indoors and opened outside.
  • Bold black, simple profile. A deep black finish and an unbroken round shape put the attention on the plant rather than the container.

Sizes and what fits in them

This page sells one size in the range. Other sizes in the same shape are listed separately.

  • 450mm x 380mm. 45cm across the top and 38cm high, holding about 55 to 65 litres of mix.
  • What fits. Enough volume for a feature plant, an established shrub or a substantial foliage plant. Something in a 300mm grower pot steps up into this comfortably.
  • Holding it long term. At this volume a plant can stay put for several years before it needs potting on.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Fibre stone, a stone composite chosen for strength without the weight of concrete. Rinse it or wipe it with a damp cloth as needed.

Outdoors. Built to withstand outdoor conditions and equally at home inside. Position it before planting, because 60 litres of wet mix changes what the pot is. We hold no frost rating for this finish, so in cold districts it is better under an eave than out in the open.

Drainage. Drainage holes are fitted with a removable plastic plug. Take the plug out for outdoor planting so water runs through freely. Indoors, leave it in place and water sparingly, or sit the pot on a saucer, which is not included.

What to expect when it arrives

The planter ships empty and packed for transit, with no plant, potting mix or saucer. At 450mm x 380mm it is a comfortable carry empty and awkward once full, so decide on the final position first and fill it there. Planters are delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95.
