The Atlantis Mentor Pot is a hand-made Vietnamese ceramic planter in a single size, 30 x 35cm outside, holding 10 litres. It is double-fired and carries the textured aged glaze the range is known for. Taller than it is wide, it lifts a plant on a balcony or beside a door without taking much floor space.

Why you'll love it

  • An aged glaze, not a coating. Double firing sets the finish into the clay, and because every pot is hand-made the texture varies from one to the next.
  • Frost resistant. The second firing lets it stay outdoors through winter in cool southern and inland gardens.
  • Upright footprint. At only 30cm across it fits a narrow balcony, a landing or a tight courtyard corner.
  • Easy to move. 10 kg empty, so one person can carry it and reposition it as the light changes.

Sizes and what fits in them

One size only: 30 x 35cm outside width by height, 10 litres of mix.

  • Upright indoor plants. Ten litres suits a plant from a 200mm nursery pot, which covers most indoor figs, palms and dracaenas.
  • Compact shrubs and herbs. A clipped ball, a small gardenia or a rosemary all sit well in this volume.
  • Matched pairs. Two either side of an entry read better than one, and the narrow diameter makes that practical.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Hand-made ceramic from Vietnam, double-fired, with an aged glaze over a textured body. Small differences between pots are inherent to the process.

Outdoors. Frost resistant thanks to the double firing, so it lives outside year round. The finish looks weathered on arrival and continues to patina.

Drainage. It is drilled for drainage. Keep them clear and stand the pot on feet so water leaves freely. Cover each hole with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, which clogs, then add a 50mm layer of 10mm gravel and a premium potting mix, never garden soil. Use a saucer indoors.

What to expect when it arrives

It ships empty and packed for transit, dispatched in 2 to 5 business days. At 30 x 35cm and 10 kg it is a one person lift, so it can be planted where it lands. Choose a plant suited to containers, because aggressive roots damage any planter over time. These pots are delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95.
