Yates Ready to Use Pyrethrum Insecticide is a contact spray based on natural pyrethrum extract, taken from the pyrethrum daisy. It comes as a 750ml trigger pack with nothing to measure or mix, which makes it a practical option for spot treating a plant or two rather than spraying a whole garden. It is a low toxic, non-residual formulation.
What it does
-
Works on contact. Pyrethrum acts fast on the insects it hits, so results are visible quickly rather than over several days.
-
Non-residual. It breaks down quickly and leaves no ongoing activity in the soil, which is the trade-off for its speed: it does not protect new growth that appears after you spray.
-
Named pests. It controls caterpillars, aphids, ants, thrips and whitefly among other common garden insects.
-
Ready to use. Supplied at spray strength in a trigger bottle, so there is no concentrate to dilute and no leftover mixture to store.
How to use it
Read the label and follow its directions, including the plants the product is registered for and any withholding period before harvest. Those details are printed on the pack and are specific to this product.
Because it works on contact, coverage decides the result. Spray directly onto the insects themselves and over the plant surfaces they are feeding on, and lift or turn the foliage so the underside of leaves gets wet too, since aphids, thrips and whitefly shelter there. Apply when pests are actually present rather than on a schedule, and repeat as required, as the spray gives no lasting protection once it has dried and broken down.
What it suits
Edibles and ornamentals. Vegetable gardens and edible plants, flowers and ornamentals, fruit trees and citrus, and indoor plants, all within the directions on the label.
Spot treatment. Small outbreaks caught early, on a few plants, where a ready mixed trigger bottle is quicker to reach for than a concentrate and a sprayer.
Not for. It is not a preventative and it will not hold an infestation back over weeks, because it has no residual action. A large or repeating problem is better handled by identifying the pest first. Delivered Australia wide,.
