Yates Fungus Gun is a ready to use systemic disease spray for roses and ornamentals, supplied as a 750ml trigger bottle. Being systemic, it moves through the plant rather than sitting on the leaf surface, which is how it guards new growth and works on infection already present. There is nothing to mix and nothing to dilute.

What it does

  • Systemic, not merely surface deep. The product travels through the plant, so it reaches tissue the spray could not coat directly.
  • Prevents and controls. The dual action formula works on existing infection while guarding against new disease, with residual protection after application.
  • Black spot, rust and powdery mildew. These are the diseases the product is sold to control. The label carries the full list, and the plants it is registered for.
  • No mixing. A trigger spray with nothing to measure or decant, which removes the most common way a home application goes wrong.

How to use it

Read the label and follow its directions: it holds the registered uses, rates and precautions, and it is the only authority on how the product may be applied. Spray directly onto the foliage until it is evenly wet, covering all leaf surfaces including the undersides, where fungal problems commonly start. Apply at the first sign of disease, or ahead of it as a preventative treatment, since disease is easier to stop early than to clear once established. Do not use it on food crops unless the label says that you may.

What it suits

Roses. Black spot and powdery mildew are why most rose growers keep a fungicide on the shelf, and this is made for that work.

Azaleas, camellias and other ornamentals. It is intended for ornamental plants in beds and pots, so a potted camellia by the door is treated like a shrub in the garden. Delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95.

What it is not. It is a fungicide, so it does nothing about insects, mites or a nutrient problem, and yellowing leaves are as often a feeding or drainage issue as a disease. Work out what you are treating before you spray.
