Snowbells Pandorea (Pandorea 'Snowbells') is a vigorous native climber that can reach 6m tall and about 2m wide. Clusters of white bell-shaped flowers cover the evergreen foliage in spring, making a fast privacy screen over a fence, arbour or trellis. Left without support, it spreads as a groundcover much like star jasmine.
Why you'll love it
-
Spring blankets of white bells. Clusters of white bell flowers decorate the vine in spring, a big display on a vigorous plant.
-
A fast privacy screen. At up to 6m tall it covers a fence or screen quickly, so privacy comes sooner than with slower climbers.
-
Shade where you want it. Trained over an arbour or pergola it gives leafy shade through summer.
-
Easy going. It is undemanding about soil type and a very forgiving plant for a first-time climber.
-
Native evergreen. It is an Australian native climber that keeps its foliage all year.
Where it works best
Privacy screens. Plant 2m apart along a fence or wire trellis for a continuous screen. Tie in the young stems and let them grow.
Arbours and pergolas. A single plant at each post makes a leafy canopy, with a private nook beneath.
Groundcover. Take away the support and it sprawls as a groundcover, much like star jasmine. Plant 2m apart on a bank or open bed and cut back where it strays.
Growing Snowbells Pandorea in Australia
Position and climate. Plant in a sunny, open position with plenty of space to climb. It suits subtropical and warm temperate gardens, and it needs protection from frost. It is vigorous, so allow room.
Soil. Very easy going as to soil type. Mulch at planting time to hold moisture around the young roots.
Water and feed. Mulch and water regularly until established, usually around 12 weeks, and provide water during dry periods. Apply a slow release fertiliser in spring.
Pruning. Chop it back if it gets too big. A firm trim after flowering keeps this vigorous climber in check and encourages dense growth.
What to expect when it arrives
We sell Snowbells Pandorea as tube stock, a young plant in an 80mm deep tube that establishes quickly. It arrives small, so tie the first stems onto the support at planting and expect fast growth once it gets going. Tube stock comes from our grower and is not always available. When the tube shows as sold out, the grower has none at the moment, and the notify button on the page emails you the day it is back.
Plants are delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95. Every plant is covered by our 30 day healthy plant guarantee.

Common questions
How big will it get?
It can reach up to 6m tall and about 2m wide. It is a vigorous climber, so it suits a large fence, pergola or arbour.
Can I use it as a groundcover?
Yes. Without a support it spreads along the ground, much as star jasmine does. Trim it if it spreads further than you want.
When does it flower?
In spring, with clusters of white bell-shaped flowers. Pruning straight after flowering keeps it in shape.
