Pink Remembrance Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis 'Pink Remembrance') is an aromatic, edible rosemary with sea-green foliage and soft pink flowers through the warmer months. It grows to about 1m high and 80cm wide, a size that clips into an unusual, fragrant hedge. The blue-green needle leaves stand up to salt, wind, sun and dry soil.
Why you'll love it
-
Pink instead of blue. All the fragrance of the blue-flowered kind, with soft pink flowers that bring a gentler colour to a herb bed.
-
An edible hedge. It clips into a compact, aromatic boundary that you can also cook from.
-
Built for the seaside. The foliage stands up to salt, wind, sun and dry soil, so it holds a coastal line well.
-
Happy in cooler climates. It copes with cold as well as heat, hardy to about -6C once established.
-
Good in a pot. Keep one by the kitchen door for the barbecue and the Sunday roast. Rosemary is not toxic to cats or dogs.
Where it works best
Edible hedges and borders. Plant 60cm apart in a single row. The plants meet within a couple of seasons to make a hedge about 1m high, clipped lightly after flowering.
Coastal and cottage gardens. Salt and wind do not trouble it, so it suits seaside beds and cottage plantings alike.
Pots by the kitchen. A large pot of gritty mix keeps the sprigs close to the cook.
Growing Pink Remembrance Rosemary in Australia
Position and climate. Full sun to part shade. Like all rosemary it prefers dry summers and copes well in cool, dry climates as well as Mediterranean and arid gardens. In humid subtropical gardens choose the sunniest, most open position you have.
Soil. Well-drained soil is the one firm requirement. Sandy and gravelly ground suits it, while clay needs a mound or raised bed so water never lingers at the roots.
Water and feed. Mulch and water well until the plants are established, then water only in extended dry periods. Established plants need very little feeding.
Pruning. Prune after flowering and clip lightly through the year to maintain a compact hedge line. Take soft tips only, because rosemary reshoots poorly from bare wood.
What to expect when it arrives
We sell Pink Remembrance Rosemary as tube stock, a young plant in an 80mm deep tube that establishes quickly once it is in the ground. Plants arrive small and tidy and settle quickly in warm weather, so for a hedge order the number you need and plant them all at once.
Because tube stock is supplied by our grower, it is not always available. When it is sold out, use the notify button on this page and we will email you the day it is back.
Plants are delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95. Every plant is covered by our 30 day healthy plant guarantee.

Common questions
Is the pink-flowered one as good to cook with?
Yes. It is edible and carries the same fragrance as the blue-flowered kind, so it works in the kitchen the same way.
How long before it becomes a hedge?
Planted 60cm apart, expect a continuous line in about two seasons of warm-weather growth, a little longer in cool climates.
How do I keep the hedge dense?
Clip lightly after flowering and again to hold the shape. Cut soft tips only, never back into leafless wood.
