Marian's Marvel Correa (Correa hybrid 'Marian's Marvel') is a wide-spreading native shrub, 1.5 to 2m tall and 2 to 3m wide, decorated with dozens of two-colour bells from spring to autumn. Each small bell is peach-pink with a cream-yellow rim. It is evergreen, hardy and popular with birds.
Why you'll love it
-
Two-colour bells for months. Peach-pink bells with cream-yellow rims open from spring through to autumn, a long season for a shrub.
-
Birds love it. The nectar bells draw birds, so it suits a wildlife garden.
-
Hardy once established. It tolerates frost and drought, and holds small dark green oval leaves all year.
-
A generous size. At up to 3m wide it fills a gap quickly, with a soft, flowing outline.
-
Easy to shape. A light prune after flowering keeps the shape in order.
Where it works best
Informal hedges. Plant 1.5m apart for a loose, flowering hedge. It spreads wide, so allow room and choose it where a soft edge suits.
Native and wildlife gardens. Set it where nectar-feeding birds can reach the flowers, such as beside a path or window.
Cottage gardens. Its flowing habit softens fences and mixes with perennials and other shrubs.
Growing Marian's Marvel Correa in Australia
Position and climate. A sunny or partly shaded position, where dappled sunlight is perfect. It suits warm temperate, cool temperate and Mediterranean gardens.
Soil. Free-draining soil. Mulch after planting to retain moisture and regulate soil temperature while the young plant establishes.
Water and feed. Water regularly until established. After that it tolerates frost and drought. Follow flowering with a native slow release fertiliser.
Pruning. A light prune once flowering has finished will help give the plant shape. Take only soft growth.
What to expect when it arrives
We sell Marian's Marvel Correa as tube stock and 140mm pots in packs of 10. Tube stock is a young plant in an 80mm deep tube that establishes quickly, and the 140mm pots in packs of 10 carry more growth for a quicker hedge. It spreads wide, so allow room when you plant.
Our tubes are supplied by our grower, so they are not always on hand. If the tube shows as sold out, the grower has none at the moment, and the notify button on this page emails you the day it is back.
Plants are delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95. Every plant is covered by our 30 day healthy plant guarantee.
