Black Terrazzo Egg Pot

The Black Terrazzo Egg Pot is a fibrecement planter in an egg shape, finished in a black terrazzo look with flecked texture through the surface. It comes in three sizes, 320mm, 450mm and 550mm, all with a built in drainage hole and rated for indoor or outdoor use. Fibrecement gives you the presence of a concrete pot at a fraction of the weight.

Why you'll love it

• Concrete look, liftable weight. Fibrecement is considerably lighter than solid concrete at the same diameter, so a 550mm pot can be moved into place without a trolley.
• Terrazzo flecking on black. The speckled finish gives a large dark pot depth and stops it flattening out in strong sun.
• Drainage already built in. A drainage hole comes drilled, so you plant straight into it with no liner and no drill.
• Indoor or outdoor. The same pot suits an entry, an open plan living area, a courtyard or a commercial foyer.

Sizes and what fits in them

Three sizes are stocked, named by diameter.

• 320mm. Holds roughly 22 to 26 litres of mix. Suits decorative foliage and compact plants, indoors or on a balcony.
• 450mm. About 45cm across and 36cm tall, roughly 40 to 45 litres. The size for a feature plant or an established shrub.
• 550mm. About 55cm across and 46cm tall, roughly 75 to 85 litres. Enough root room for a large shrub or a small tree held in a pot.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Fibrecement with a textured black terrazzo look finish. Wipe it with a damp cloth or rinse it down.

Outdoors. Rated for outdoor use. We recommend sealing it with a suitable masonry sealant before you plant, which is normal practice with fibrecement and helps the finish last through wet and dry cycles outside. Do that before the pot is full, not after.

Drainage. A drainage hole is built in and no liner is required. No saucer is included, so indoors you will want a tray under it. Outside, raise the pot slightly on feet or pavers so the hole stays clear.

What to expect when it arrives

Pots ship empty and are packed for freight, with plants and potting mix sold separately. The flecked finish varies between pieces, so no two are identical. Seal the pot, let it dry, then plant it in position: a filled 550mm is a job for two people.

Delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95.
