Yates Zero Rapid is a ready to use, non selective weed killer that shows visible damage within an hour of spraying. It works through foliage and roots rather than only burning the top, and being non residual, treated ground can be replanted after 7 days. It comes in 1L and 3L bottles, sprayer built in.
What it does
-
Visible inside an hour. Damage shows within one hour of application, so you know the pass landed without waiting a week.
-
Roots as well as leaf. It moves through the plant, which is what stops a sprayed weed reshooting from the crown a fortnight later.
-
Rainproof after 30 minutes. Half an hour of dry weather fixes it in place. A shower after that is not a reason to respray.
-
Non residual in the soil. It breaks down rather than persisting, which is why cleared ground can be planted 7 days later.
How to use it
Follow the label directions on the bottle. They set out where the product may be used and the precautions that apply, and they override anything summarised here.
Spray directly onto actively growing weeds until the foliage is wet but not running off, since full leaf coverage carries the product to the roots. Do not spray if rain is likely within 30 minutes. Wait 7 days before planting into treated ground. Yates state that children and pets can re-enter a treated area once the spray has dried.
What it suits
Paths, paving and driveways. Growth in hard surfaces is the job this is built for: nothing in a paving crack is worth keeping.
Fence lines and building edges. Boundary strips are awkward to mow and slow to dig, and easy to cover with a trigger bottle. Once a whole fence line is involved, the 3L beats the 1L.
Clearing a bed before planting. With no residual left behind, a bed can be sprayed, left 7 days and planted. Both sizes are delivered Australia wide,.
It is non selective and will kill any plant the spray touches, lawn grass included. Keep it away from anything you intend to keep, and never use it as a lawn weeder.
