These are 14cm ground pins for holding weed mat, landscape fabric and ground covers in place, supplied as a pack of 10. They are moulded from UV stabilised polyethylene with a large flat head, so they hold fabric flat instead of tearing through it.
Lay the weed mat or ground cover out first and let it relax flat before fixing anything. Push the pins through the fabric and into the soil at regular intervals, along every edge and along each overlap join, which is where wind gets underneath. Set them until the flat head sits down against the fabric rather than standing proud. Add extra pins where the ground is uneven or the site is exposed, because those are the places a mat lifts first. On a slope work from the top down, then cover with mulch or decorative stone if that is the finish you want.
Weed mat under mulch. Fabric that will disappear beneath bark or pebble still needs pinning, because matting that shifts during backfilling leaves a gap weeds find.
New garden beds. Landscape fabric is far easier to secure before the plants go in than after. Pins are delivered Australia wide,.
Exposed and uneven sites. Wind and rough ground are what lift matting, and both are answered with more pins rather than heavier fabric.
