Terrazzo Tall Square

The Terrazzo Tall Square is a straight sided column planter: a fibreglass core wrapped in a real terrazzo shell, roughly a quarter of the weight of traditional terrazzo. It comes in three sizes and eleven finishes, from a 25cm square 56cm tall to a 45cm square a full metre high. Choose it for height and an architectural line without the weight of stone.

Why you'll love it

Sizes and what fits in them

Three sizes, as outside length by width by height.

• 25 x 25 x 56cm, 35 litres. A clipped buxus ball, a slim palm or a standard topiary flanking a doorway.
• 35 x 35 x 78cm, 95 litres. A dwarf citrus, a gardenia standard or a screening shrub at head height.
• 45 x 45 x 100cm, 200 litres. The landscape size: a small tree, a large palm, or a row lifting a boundary screen a metre.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. A fibreglass core carries the load and the terrazzo shell finishes the surface, so the aggregate is real rather than printed. Flat sides sit flush against a wall.

Outdoors. Dulux Weathershield custom spray colours carry a 15 year guarantee against blistering, peeling and flaking, and almost any Dulux or Colorbond colour is sprayed to order for an extra $60. We publish no frost rating for this range, so give it shelter in hard frosting districts.

Drainage. Keep the drainage holes clear and stand the pot on feet. Cover each hole with fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, which clogs. Add 50mm of 10mm gravel, then a premium potting mix rather than garden soil. Indoors, sit it on a saucer.

What to expect when it arrives

Pots ship empty and unplanted, packed to travel. The standard terrazzo finish is dispatched in 2 to 5 business days, while custom spray colours are made to order, so allow 2 to 3 weeks. Orders are delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95. A tall narrow pot goes top heavy, so the 45 x 45 x 100cm wants a level base and shelter from wind.
