The Sherlock Home Use Steel Tray Wheelbarrow holds 100 litres in a 0.8mm powder coated steel tray, reinforced with a 7mm shock board. Steel takes the sharp and heavy loads that mark a plastic tray, which makes this the barrow to reach for when bricks and rubble are part of the job. It arrives fully assembled with a two year Sherlock warranty.
What it does
-
Takes a sharp load. The tray is 0.8mm powder coated steel with a 7mm shock board behind it, so brick and broken concrete do not gouge or split it as they can with poly.
-
Coated end to end. Handles, legs and stays are all powder coated steel, so the finish protecting the tray protects the frame as well.
-
Rides over rough ground. A 16 inch pneumatic tyre on a steel rim keeps a loaded barrow moving across lawn, gravel and dug soil.
-
Ready on arrival. Fully assembled out of the carton, with fitted grips on the handles.
How to use it
Load over the wheel rather than at the back of the tray, lift with your legs and let the wheel take the weight. Steel is heavier empty than poly, so technique matters more here: keep the load low and take slopes straight up and down.
Rinse the tray after every use, because wet soil sitting against steel is what starts rust at any chip in the coating. Dry it before storing and keep it undercover. Keep the tyre inflated to the recommended pressure. It ships at 670mm wide by 710mm high by 1500mm long.
What it suits
Home gardens. Mulch, soil, plants and green waste move as easily as they would in a poly barrow, with a tray that shrugs off a dropped shovel.
Brick and hard material. Carting bricks and building materials is where steel earns the extra weight, because sharp corners do not damage it.
Yard tidy-ups. General maintenance on a small property suits the 100 litre capacity without needing a trailer.
Two honest points. Steel is heavier to push empty than poly, and the tray needs drying out and the coating kept intact if it is going to last. It is also a home use barrow, not a trade model. It is delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95.
