Lime Green Succulent (Echeveria setosa x ciliata 'Lime Green') is a neat, low echeveria that forms a tidy rosette of bright green leaves about 10cm tall and wide. It is a calm, fresh looking plant for waterwise gardens, small pots and bright rooms, and it sets off the reds and purples of other succulents beautifully.
Why you'll love it
-
Bright, clean green. Fresh lime green leaves look sharp on their own and make darker succulents in a mixed pot look richer.
-
Very compact. A 10cm rosette fits anywhere, from a thimble pot to a gap in a rockery.
-
Waterwise. Drought tolerant once established, so it suits gardens where watering is limited.
-
Easy indoors. It does well in a bright room, as long as it gets strong light.
Where it works best
Waterwise garden beds. Plant 10cm apart in a gravel bed for a low, textured edge of green rosettes.
Mixed succulent bowls. Its plain green gives restful contrast to the reds, purples and silver-blue of neighbouring echeverias.
Windowsills. Keep it in the brightest spot you have, since strong light holds the rosette tight. It is not listed as toxic to cats and dogs, but a nibbled rosette will not recover, so keep it up out of reach.
Growing Lime Green Succulent in Australia
Position and climate. Full sun gives the best leaf colour. Introduce a plant to summer sun gradually over a week or two. Outdoors it suits warm temperate, Mediterranean and arid or semi-arid gardens, and subtropical ones if it can stay out of persistent rain. Cold, wet winters are its weak point, so in southern and highland gardens pot it and shelter it from frost.
Soil. Plant in free draining soil: cactus mix with extra grit, or a raised, gravelly bed with the crown just above the surface.
Water and feed. Give it a thorough drink only when the soil is dry to the touch, applied around the base and not on the rosette. Overwatering, not drought, is how most echeverias are lost. One half-strength feed in early spring covers the year.
Pruning. Nothing to prune. Peel off dead, dry leaves from the base of the rosette now and then.
What to expect when it arrives
Lime Green Succulent comes as tube stock, a young plant in an 80mm deep tube that establishes quickly once potted into gritty mix. Tube plants are tiny young rosettes, quick to settle when potted into gritty mix.
Echeveria leaves store water, so a few days in transit does no harm. A loosened leaf is not a loss: laid on dry mix, it often grows a new rosette. Let the plant settle in bright shade before you water. Supply of the tube rests with our grower, who is sometimes out. A sold out tube just means none is available today, and the notify button on the page emails you the day it is back in stock.
Plants are delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95. Every plant is covered by our 30 day healthy plant guarantee.

Common questions
Will it stay green?
Yes, bright green is its colour. Strong light keeps the rosette tight and clean, while a dim spot loosens it.
Is it good for a waterwise garden?
Yes. Once established it needs little water and handles dry spells. Give it sharp drainage and shelter from long wet weather.
Can I grow it indoors?
Yes, in bright light. A sunny windowsill is better than a dim shelf, where the rosette would stretch.
