The Cyclone Super Garden Rake is a wide plastic rake with a scraper edge on the back, built to cover ground quickly. The head is 580mm across with 30 polypropylene tines at 160mm, on a 1300mm aluminium handle, for a tool 1570mm long overall that still stays light in the hand. It is for anyone with more leaf litter or top dressing than a standard head can keep up with.

What it does

  • 580mm head with 30 tines. Close to twice the width of a standard garden rake, so a lawn full of leaves or clippings takes roughly half the passes.
  • Dual function scraper edge. Flip the head over and the flat back levels sand and soil, or pushes standing water off a hard surface.
  • UV stabilised polypropylene head. Heavy duty plastic, stabilised against UV, so the tines keep their spring instead of going brittle through an Australian summer.
  • Aluminium handle. 1300mm of aluminium keeps the weight down over a long session, and the tool is backed by Cyclone's lifetime guarantee.

How to use it

Rake with the tines for leaves, clippings and garden litter, using long light strokes and letting the width do the work rather than pressing down. Turn the rake over for the finishing passes: the scraper edge levels top dressing across a lawn, spreads sand evenly, and pushes water off a driveway or garage floor after rain. Work top dressing in with the tines first and finish with the flat edge, which gives an even surface instead of ridges.

Hose the head off after use and let it dry. Store it undercover or hang it up, because nothing plastic improves for sitting in full sun year round.

What it suits

Leaves, clippings and garden litter. Autumn leaf fall and general debris across larger areas, where the extra width saves real time.

Top dressing and levelling. Spreading soil, sand and lawn top dress, and levelling sand on paths and driveways. Delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95.

Not a steel rake. Polypropylene tines flex, which is what makes them kind to a lawn, but they are not made for dragging heavy thatch or raking gravel and rubble. Keep a steel rake for that.
