Di Ciccio is an Italian heirloom broccoli grown for its side shoots rather than one big supermarket head. Brassica oleracea 'Di Ciccio' throws a modest, loose central head, and once that is cut the plant keeps producing tender shoots for weeks. It is the variety to sow if you want broccoli on the plate regularly rather than all at once.

What it does

  • Keeps cropping after the first cut. The main head is followed by a steady run of side shoots, so one planting carries a household for weeks rather than a meal.
  • Mild and sweet. The flavour is gentler than commercial broccoli, which suits quick fresh cooking where the florets are the point.
