Yates Success Ultra Insect Control is a 200ml insecticide concentrate for leaf-eating pests on edible and ornamental plants. The active is derived from beneficial soil bacteria, and it works both on contact and when the insect eats treated leaf. One bottle makes up to 40 litres of spray.

What it does

  • Two ways into the pest. It kills on contact and through ingestion, so an insect that avoids the spray droplet still takes a dose from the leaf it is chewing.
  • Translaminar movement. The product moves through the leaf tissue rather than sitting on the surface, which protects the underside of a leaf the spray never reached.
  • Rainfast once dry. After the spray has dried on the plant it is rainfast, so a shower does not automatically mean starting again.
  • Forty litres from one bottle. At 200ml of concentrate to up to 40 litres of made-up spray, the cost per treated tree is low for a home orchard.

How to use it

Dilute with water using the built-in measure on the bottle, at the rate given on the label. The rates, the plants and the pests this product is registered for are all on the label, and those label directions must be followed. Do not carry a rate across from another insecticide.

Spray the foliage thoroughly and aim for even coverage rather than run-off, and apply when pests are present and actively feeding, since a chewing insect is the one that takes the dose. Let the spray dry on the plant before rain or overhead watering.
