OCP Eco-Neem Concentrate is an organically registered insecticide for chewing and sucking insects on ornamental plants and lawns. It works on the pest's appetite and growth rather than by knockdown alone: treated insects stop feeding, then fail to develop. The 100ml bottle is a concentrate, and it is not suitable for use on edible plants.

What it does

  • Chewing and sucking insects. It controls caterpillars, curl grubs, grasshoppers, mealybugs, aphids, mites, whitefly, fungus gnats, citrus leafminer and lawn armyworm.
  • Appetite and growth disruption. Feeding is suppressed and the growth cycle interrupted, so insects stop eating shortly after treatment rather than dropping instantly.
  • Selective in practice. Beneficial insects are unaffected unless they feed on treated plants, so a spray does not clear out the predators along with the pests.
  • Economical concentrate. One 100ml bottle makes up to 50 litres of spray, which is a long season of spot treating in a suburban garden.

How to use it

Dilute with water according to the label directions, then spray onto foliage where pests are present, wetting leaf undersides where sucking insects sit. Rates, the plants it is registered for and every restriction are set out on the label, and the label directions must be followed. Because it acts through feeding and growth, judge the result by whether fresh damage stops appearing over the following days rather than by counting dead insects the next morning.
