The Atlantis Well Jar is a small, squat jar in hand made aged ceramic, double fired in Vietnam for frost resistance. It is made in one size, 30cm across by 33cm high, holding 6 litres and weighing 12kg empty. The heavy walls and modest soil volume tell you what it is: a decorative piece that takes a plant, not a growing pot.

Material. Aged ceramic, hand made and double fired in Vietnam. The glaze is uneven by design, so colour and texture will vary from the photograph.

Outdoors. Frost resistant and happy outside, where the aged finish keeps developing. Raise it on pot feet so the base is not sitting in water on paving.

Drainage. It is drilled. Keep the holes clear, cover each with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen rather than fabric or geofabric, which clogs, then 50mm of 10mm gravel before a premium potting mix. Garden soil compacts in a pot this small and should not be used. Indoors it drains freely, so it needs a saucer under it.
