Flat rust metal garden edging draws a clean line between lawn, path and garden bed, then holds it there. Each length is 6 metres long and 150mm high, made from a flexible metal with a rust-look finish that sits as comfortably against a rendered wall as in a loose native garden. It gives a professional edge without pouring concrete.

What it does

  • Keeps materials where you put them. A 150mm profile separates turf, mulch and gravel, so bark stays off the path.
  • Bends to the shape you want. The metal is flexible enough to form smooth curves as well as straight runs.
  • Rust-look finish, no painting. The finish is made for outdoor use and gains character with age rather than needing a fresh coat.
  • Very little to maintain. Once pegged down there is nothing to re-stain each year.

How to use it

Work out the run first. Each length covers 6 metres, so a bed measuring 4m by 3m edged on three sides needs about 10 metres, or two lengths. Pegs are not included: one pack of matching metal pegs (I/N 0877461) is required per piece of edging and is sold separately.

Mark the line with a hose, cut a narrow slot along it with a spade, stand the edging in the slot and secure it with the pegs. Bend it gently by hand around curves rather than forcing a crease, set the top slightly above soil level so mulch stays contained, then backfill and firm both sides.

What it suits

Beds, paths and lawns. Garden beds, paths and the boundary between lawn and planting, where the point is a crisp line that survives the mower and the line trimmer.
