The Garden Up Classic Pot is a long, shallow outdoor trough in a terracotta finish, built around an integrated saucer rather than a loose one. It measures 495mm overall, 49cm wide, 17.5cm deep and 14cm high, and it is watered through a single hole in the front face instead of over the top. That makes it a practical choice for herbs and potted colour on a balcony or in a courtyard.

Why you'll love it

  • The saucer is part of the pot. Surplus water is caught and held in the base rather than running across pavers, which is what makes this workable on a balcony or a tiled entry.
  • Water from the front, not the top. A centre hole in the face lets you fill it without disturbing foliage or washing mix off the surface, and you can see when it has had enough.

This pot is made in one size, 495mm long.

  • Planted as a herb trough. Four to six herbs in a row across the 49cm width: parsley, thyme, chives and basil among them.
  • Planted for colour. Three compact annuals, or a run of leafy greens for cut and come again picking.

What it will not take is anything with a deep taproot or a woody framework. Match it to plants you harvest and replace.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Finished in terracotta, with the watering system moulded into the body of the pot. Rinse it with water or wipe it clean as needed.

Outdoors. Designed specifically for outdoor use, on balconies, in courtyards, along walls and rails, and around small gardens and patios.

Drainage. This is not a free draining pot. Water goes in through the front opening and is held in the integrated saucer, which is what prevents overwatering in normal use. Through a long wet spell, a spot under eaves keeps the water level under your control rather than the weather's.
