Square Taper Planter

The Square Taper Planter is a tapered square vessel made from Oxy-Shield landscaping steel, a formulated steel that oxidises to a deep rust patina and then holds there instead of flaking away. It comes in four sizes from 200mm to 700mm in the one rust look finish, built for constant outdoor exposure. Landscapers reach for it when a planting needs a hard architectural edge rather than a decorative pot.

Four sizes, with the approximate soil volume each holds.

• 200mm. About 25cm across and the same tall, roughly 10 to 12 litres. Cacti, a group of succulents, or herbs near the kitchen door.
• 260mm. About 34.5cm across, roughly 28 to 32 litres. A compact shrub or a structural grass.
• 340mm. Also about 34.5cm across but a deeper body, roughly 55 to 65 litres. Enough for a feature shrub long term.
• 700mm. 35cm square and 70cm tall, roughly 80 to 90 litres. The column of the range, sized to lift a small feature plant to eye level.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Oxy-Shield landscaping steel, finished in a rust look patina that develops with exposure.

Outdoors. Outdoor use only. Rust run off can stain pavers, decking and tiles, so stand it on gravel or garden bed rather than paving.

Drainage. Line the base with 50 to 100mm of gravel or wood chips before adding mix, so the holes stay clear. You can also skip planting and stand a potted plant inside it.

What to expect when it arrives
