The Jack Garden Edging Strip is a 1180mm long steel border for garden beds, paths and gravel runs. Each strip stands 200mm high and is 1mm thick, made from Oxy-Shield landscaping steel that weathers to a rust-look patina rather than flaking away. It suits anyone who wants a crisp, permanent line between lawn, mulch and paving without pouring concrete.

What it does

Oxy-Shield steel is built to oxidise at the surface and then hold. The strip develops the earthy rust tone landscapers use as a finish, while the steel underneath resists corrosion. The patina keeps deepening with age, so the edge looks more settled at five years than on day one.

Built-in tabs lock one strip into the next, so a long run behaves as a single continuous edge. At 1mm the steel is thin enough to bend by hand into curves and angles, and stiff enough to hold a straight line once it is in the ground.

How to use it

Mark the line first, then cut a shallow slot with a spade. Stand the first strip in the slot and tap it down with a mallet, working along its length rather than driving one end at a time. Engage the interlocking tabs on the next strip before you drive it. No cutting tools or separate fixings are needed for a standard run.

Bend around curves with steady hand pressure rather than a sharp crease. To bring the rust-look finish on faster, spray the face lightly with water once it is installed.

A clean division. Holding mulch inside a bed and keeping runner grasses out, and separating gravel paths, decomposed granite or bark from lawn. The 200mm height buries deep enough to matter while leaving a neat lip above the surface.
