The Black Growers Plant Saucer is the plain, Australian made plastic saucer that sits under a growers pot and catches whatever runs out of it. It comes in eight round sizes from 115mm to 430mm, so there is one to match almost any nursery or plastic pot you already own. It is the cheapest way to keep water off a floor, a deck or a windowsill.

What it does

  • Australian made plastic. Manufactured locally in a durable plastic built for regular watering and daily handling, not for a single season.
  • No drainage holes. That is deliberate. The saucer holds the run off, so water stays in it rather than marking tiles, timber, carpet, decking or concrete.
  • Sized to growers pots. Eight sizes, 115mm, 129mm, 180mm, 200mm, 232mm, 275mm, 360mm and 430mm, matched to standard growers pot diameters.
  • Light and stackable. They stay easy to handle even when holding water, and they nest together for storage and transport.

How to use it

Match the saucer to the base of the pot rather than the rim, and if you land between two sizes, go wider. A saucer narrower than the pot base will miss the run off it is there to catch. The larger sizes hold more: the 200mm saucer stands 31mm high, the 360mm is 50mm and the 430mm is 55mm.

Water until it runs through, then tip out anything still standing in the saucer once the pot has finished draining. A pot left sitting in its own water stays waterlogged, and indoors that is the quickest way to lose a plant. Rinse the saucer or wipe it clean when mineral marks build up. Outdoors, remember it will fill with rain as well as with your watering.

Use. Indoor pots standing on timber, tiles or carpet, balcony and courtyard containers on concrete or decking, and nursery, office and propagation setups where pots get moved around often.

Not a planter. There are no drainage holes and no self watering reservoir, so nothing should be potted directly into it. Pots and saucers are sold separately.
