Can I get a colour that is not listed?

Yes. StoneLite, GRC and Terrazzo pots can be custom sprayed in almost any Dulux or Colorbond colour for an extra $60. Contact us before ordering.

The Red Lightweight Cylinda Planter is an Italian made plastic cylinder in a terracotta look finish, sold in four sizes from 300mm to 600mm. Every size carries a built in tray and reservoir, so water sits below the mix and the plant draws on it between waterings. It gives you the terracotta look without the weight of fired clay or the daily thirst that comes with it.

Why you'll love it

  • The reservoir does the watering. The integrated tray and reservoir hold a buffer of water under the root zone, so moisture stays steadier than hand watering the surface. You check the level and top it up.
  • Terracotta looks, a fraction of the weight. Moulded plastic means a planted 500mm can be shifted around a balcony by one person, which is not true of clay at that size.
  • UV resistant. Coloured plastic goes chalky in Australian sun unless it is made for it. This one is UV resistant and rated for indoor and outdoor use.
  • Made in Italy. The moulding and finish come out of an Italian factory rather than a generic import line.

Sizes and what fits in them

Four sizes, measured across the top, with approximate soil volume.

  • 300mm. 30cm across, 21cm tall, about 10 to 12 litres. Herbs or a compact indoor plant.
  • 400mm. 40cm across, 27cm tall, about 20 to 22 litres. Foliage plants, or three or four smaller plants mixed in one pot.
  • 500mm. 50cm across, 34cm tall, about 35 to 38 litres. A feature plant or a shrub with room to hold for a few years.
  • 600mm. 60cm across, about 45 to 50 litres. Larger plantings and grouped displays.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Plastic, moulded in Italy, finished to read as terracotta at a distance.

Outdoors. UV resistant and rated for outdoor use, so it holds up on balconies, patios and in gardens. We do not publish a frost rating, so in hard frosting districts empty the reservoir before a freeze.

Drainage. Water drains into the reservoir rather than straight through, and the tray comes with the planter, so no separate saucer is needed indoors. Matching saucers are sold separately. Check the reservoir regularly and top it up as needed.
