Can I get a colour that is not listed?

Yes. StoneLite, GRC and Terrazzo pots can be custom sprayed in almost any Dulux or Colorbond colour for an extra $60. Contact us before ordering.

The Terrazzo Trough is a long rectangular planter: a fibreglass core wrapped in a real terrazzo shell, roughly a quarter of the weight of traditional terrazzo. It comes in three sizes, from 60cm long up to a full metre. A trough suits a run of planting rather than a single specimen: a low screen along a balcony, a herb bench, or a green line dividing a courtyard.

Why you'll love it

  • Length you can plant into. A metre long trough takes three or four shrubs in a row, giving a continuous screen instead of separate pots.
  • Light enough for a balcony. Empty weights are 4kg, 7kg and 15kg, roughly a quarter of what solid terrazzo would weigh at the same size.

  • 60 x 25 x 30cm, 45 litres. Herbs, salad greens, strawberries or compact succulents on an outdoor bench.
  • 80 x 35 x 37cm, 100 litres. Three clipped balls, a run of dwarf grasses, or a mixed planting with height at one end and trailing growth at the other.
  • 100 x 45 x 45cm, 200 litres. Real depth for a low hedge: dwarf lilly pilly, murraya or bamboo as a movable screen.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. A fibreglass core carries the structure and the terrazzo shell finishes the surface. The trough is sold in the standard terrazzo finish.

Outdoors. The range is a favourite for balconies and indoor plants, and it handles a covered patio or a sheltered courtyard well. We publish no frost rating for the trough, so in hard frosting districts keep it under an eave or against a warm wall.

Drainage. Keep the drainage holes clear and stand the trough on feet so water leaves freely. Cover each hole with fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, which clogs. Add 50mm of 10mm gravel, then a premium potting mix rather than garden soil. Indoors, sit it on a tray.
