StoneLite Tall Egg

The StoneLite Tall Egg is an upright, softly curved planter cast from glass-reinforced concrete, made in five sizes from 25cm to 60cm across and eleven finishes. It is the lightest shape in the StoneLite range: the smallest is 3kg empty, one of the few concrete look pots you can carry in one hand.

Why you'll love it

• Light enough to move. 3kg at 25 x 27cm and 15kg at 60 x 67cm, against roughly three times that for solid concrete.
• Works inside and out. The egg profile suits a hallway as readily as a courtyard, so a set can carry through from inside to out.
• Reinforced walls. Glass fibre runs through the concrete, so it shrugs off knocks that crack ordinary cast pots.
• Eleven finishes. Raw Concrete as standard, plus ten sprayed colours from White on White to Charcoal, with custom colours to order for an extra $60.

Sizes and what fits in them

Five sizes, quoted as outside width by height.

• 25 x 27cm, 12L, 3kg. A single indoor plant, a fern or a small succulent.
• 35 x 39cm, 32L, 5kg. A ZZ plant, a peace lily or a compact shrub on a balcony.
• 44 x 52cm, 65L, 8kg. A rubber plant or a clipped standard by a front door.
• 52 x 60cm, 105L, 11kg. A mature indoor specimen, or a flowering shrub outside.
• 60 x 67cm, 160L, 15kg. Room for a small tree, and liftable by two people when empty.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Glass-reinforced concrete: a genuine concrete surface carried on a glass fibre matrix, which is where the weight saving comes from.

Outdoors. The sprayed colours are Dulux Weathershield, guaranteed for 15 years against blistering, peeling and flaking. We hold no frost rating for the range, so where winters bite, keep the pot draining freely rather than assume it will cope with ice inside.

Drainage. Keep the drainage holes clear and raise the pot on feet. Cover each hole with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, because both clog. Add 50mm of 10mm gravel, then a premium potting mix, never garden soil. Indoors, stand it on a saucer.

What to expect when it arrives

Pots ship empty and unplanted. Raw Concrete is dispatched in 2 to 5 business days; the sprayed colours are made to order, so allow 2 to 3 weeks. Every size, from the 25 x 27cm up, is delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95.
