The StoneLite Deep Bowl is a wide, low planter cast from glass-reinforced concrete, made in ten sizes from a 25cm table top bowl to a 112cm centrepiece. It has the surface of solid concrete at about a third of the weight, so even the largest is 40kg empty. Choose it when the planting should spread rather than stand up in a column.
Measurements are outside dimensions, diameter by height.
Material. Glass-reinforced concrete, cast thin over a fibre matrix. That is what keeps the wall light and still able to take a hit.
Outdoors. Custom-spray colours are finished in Dulux Weathershield, with a 15 year guarantee against blistering, peeling and flaking. That covers the coating staying put rather than the shade, and raw concrete will patina as concrete does. Almost any custom colour can be sprayed to order for an extra $60.
Drainage. It has drainage holes. Keep them clear, raise the bowl on feet, and cover each hole with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen rather than fabric or geofabric, which clogs. Add 50mm of 10mm gravel, then fill with a premium potting mix, never garden soil. Indoors, use a saucer.
Pots ship empty. Raw concrete is dispatched in 2 to 5 business days, and custom spray colours are made to order, so allow 2 to 3 weeks. Bowls are delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95. Plan the lift before it lands: the 48 x 22cm is 6kg, the 112 x 50cm is 40kg empty and heavier once planted.
