The Premium Glaze Ball Planter is a rounded double fired ceramic pot in four sizes, from 29 x 24cm up to 66 x 47cm, each in ten hand applied glaze colourways. The sphere is a forgiving shape that flatters almost any planting, and because the glazes hold their colour through Australian summers and frosty mornings, an outdoor group still looks matched years later.

  • 29 x 24cm, 8 kg. An indoor foliage plant, a compact fern or a succulent group.
  • 40 x 33cm, 14 kg. A small shrub, a clipped ball or a mixed planting of three or four plants.
  • 53 x 43cm, 26 kg. A substantial shrub, a citrus or a compact palm.
  • 66 x 47cm, 48 kg. A small tree or mature palm, with soil volume to carry it through summer.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Double fired ceramic under a hand applied glaze. Glazes vary piece to piece, so two pots of the same colourway will not be identical. That variation is the point.

Outdoors. Made for outdoors, colourfast through summer and frost resistant. The two smaller sizes work indoors as well.

Drainage. Keep the holes clear and raise the pot on feet so water escapes freely. Cover the holes with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, which clog. Add a 50mm layer of 10mm gravel, then a premium potting mix rather than garden soil. Use a saucer indoors, and choose plants suited to containers: aggressive roots can damage any planter.
