Pompeii Lotus Pot

The Pompeii Lotus Pot is a wide, low bowl in hand crafted double fired ceramic, finished in the black and white volcanic texture that runs through the Pompeii range. It comes in four sizes, from a 26cm bowl to an 82cm piece that anchors a courtyard. Every size is wider than it is tall, so it suits shallow rooted planting that looks lost in an upright pot.

All measurements are outside dimensions, diameter by height.

• 26 x 21cm. A single succulent, a compact herb or a small indoor foliage plant.
• 46 x 27cm. A clump of ornamental grass, or three or four small plants read as one.
• 59 x 35cm. A single shrub, a clipped ball, or a groundcover left to trail over the rim.
• 82 x 55cm. A feature plant with real presence: a mature palm or a small tree.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Hand crafted, double fired ceramic. The texture sits in the surface, not on top of it.

Outdoors. Made for outdoors, and the smaller bowls work indoors as well. We hold no frost rating for this finish, so in hard frosting districts move the small sizes under cover for winter.

Drainage. Keep the holes clear and raise the pot on feet so water escapes freely. Cover the holes with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, which clog. Add a 50mm layer of 10mm gravel, then fill with a premium potting mix rather than garden soil. Use a saucer indoors, and choose plants suited to containers: aggressive roots can damage any planter.

What to expect when it arrives

Pots ship empty, packed to travel on their own, with dispatch in 2 to 5 business days. Orders are delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95 and a minimum order of $300 before delivery. The 82 x 55cm bowl is a two person lift out of the carton, so decide where it is going first.
