The Atlantis Juliet Planter is the small end of the Atlantis range: hand-made Vietnamese ceramic in two sizes, 21 x 16cm holding 5L and 31 x 26cm holding 15L. Both are double-fired for frost resistance and finished in the same richly textured aged glaze as the large pieces, so a small planter still carries real surface interest. At 2.5kg and 7kg empty, this is the one Atlantis shape you can pick up and move on your own.

  • 21 x 16cm, 5L, 2.5kg. A single 140mm plant: a small indoor foliage plant, a succulent, or a pot of herbs by the kitchen door.
  • 31 x 26cm, 15L, 7kg. A 200mm plant with room to grow on, a compact shrub, or a clump of strappy-leaf for a balcony corner.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Hand-made ceramic from Vietnam, double-fired and glazed by hand, so colour depth and texture vary between pieces. Buying two does not get you two identical pots.

Outdoors. Double firing gives the frost resistance, and the aged glaze is meant to mellow outdoors rather than stay uniform. Raise it on feet so water escapes freely underneath.

Drainage. It has drainage holes and they must stay clear. Cover them with a single layer of fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, which clog. Add a 50mm layer of 10mm gravel, then a quality premium potting mix, never garden soil. Indoors, always stand it on a saucer.
