It comes in two sizes, 18cm x 23cm and 28cm x 33cm, holding 5 and 15 litres. The upright profile is the reason to pick it over a bowl: the depth suits a plant that roots down.

Outdoors. The double firing gives it frost resistance, so it can stay planted outside through a cold winter. The finish is designed to look weathered. Small pots dry out faster, so a drum on a hot western wall wants checking often through summer.

Drainage. It has drainage holes. Keep them clear and stand the pot on feet outdoors so water escapes rather than pools. Cover the holes with fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, which clog. Add 50mm of 10mm gravel, then a premium potting mix, never garden soil. Indoors it needs a saucer.
