The Atlantis Button Planter is a low, wide ceramic bowl, handmade in Vietnam and double fired, finished in the aged glaze used across the Atlantis range. It comes in two sizes, 24cm x 12cm and 34cm x 18cm, holding 5 and 15 litres. The shallow profile is the point: it suits plants that root sideways rather than down.

  • 34cm x 18cm, 15 litres, 7kg. Room for a mixed succulent bowl, a compact indoor plant, or a low growing feature on a step.

Material, weathering and drainage

Material. Handmade ceramic from Vietnam, double fired, with an aged glaze applied by hand. Colour and texture shift from piece to piece, and that variation is deliberate.

Outdoors. Double firing gives it frost resistance, so it can stay planted outdoors through winter. The aged finish is meant to weather. A shallow bowl dries faster than a deep pot in full sun, so check it often through summer.

Drainage. It has drainage holes. Keep them clear and stand the bowl on feet outdoors so water escapes rather than pools. Screen the holes with fibreglass flyscreen, never fabric or geofabric, which clog. Add 50mm of 10mm gravel and fill with a premium potting mix, never garden soil. Indoors it needs a saucer.
