The Hydro Planter grows a plant directly in water, with no soil and no potting mix involved. It measures 135mm by 115mm, is made from a lightweight, shatter resistant material, and has a removable mesh inner basket that holds the plant while the roots hang into the water below. It suits anyone who wants greenery indoors without the mess or the watering routine.
Rinse the roots clean of any old mix, settle them through the mesh inner, then fill the outer vessel with clean water so the lower roots are covered and the crown of the plant stays above the water line. Sit it in bright, indirect light indoors. Refresh the water regularly to keep it clear and the roots healthy, lifting the mesh inner out each time so you can rinse both parts. Any residue on the inside wall wipes off easily while the basket is out. Cuttings taken from a healthy plant can be started in it and left to grow on.
