Tuscan Path Roman Stone Edging is a flexible garden edge that reads as cut stone but is moulded from recycled rubber. Each length runs 1.2 metres and stands 8cm high, and it bends to follow a curve without cutting or mitring. It is the practical way to hold a mulch line or lawn edge in place without laying pavers.

What it does

  • Recycled rubber body. Made from recycled rubber rather than moulded plastic, and rated to hold up in extreme heat and cold without cracking or drying out.
  • Bends where concrete cannot. The same length forms a straight run or a smooth curve, so a bed with a shaped edge does not need a separate corner piece.
  • Stone look finish. The Roman stone face suits traditional and contemporary gardens, and sits comfortably against brick, render or timber.
  • Nothing to maintain. Once pegged down there is no painting, sealing or resetting to do.

How to use it

Mark the line first and clear a shallow trench so the base sits below the finished soil or turf level, leaving the moulded face proud. Butt each 1.2 metre length against the next and ease the rubber around curves by hand rather than forcing it. Secure it with 230mm nylon pegs, which are sold separately, driven through the edging into firm ground at regular intervals along the run. On a lawn edge, set the top low enough that a mower wheel can ride past it. After that it needs no ongoing maintenance.

What it suits

Garden bed borders. A defined edge stops mulch washing onto the path and stops turf creeping into the bed, which is most of the tidying a bed ever needs.

Paths and walkways. Running it either side of a gravel or stepping stone path holds the surface material where it was laid. Delivered Australia wide, with delivery from $29.95.

Rings around trees. A curved ring gives a tree a clean mulch circle and keeps the mower and whipper snipper off the trunk.
